Disconnection is the root of all ails on Earth. We’re often disconnected from our core being, disconnected from the sacredness of nature and disconnected from each other.
Rather than cherishing water for its majestic healing properties, water is often disrespected or taken for granted. This valley of disconnect is plaguing modern-society with previously unheard of chronic diseases.
...What if we took the time to reconnect?
In this article, we’ll explore how we can reconnect to the deeper aspects of life, especially our connection to the healing energies and life-giving properties of water.
Reclaiming the Mysteries of Life
Back in the 16th and 17th centuries, there was a drastic and radical move towards rationality and reason. This move saw the separation of science and religion.
Myths and legends were also destroyed at this time, thought to be trivial and futile. The separation of spirituality and rationality may be the foundation of the gulf of disconnect, as well as the roots of stress and anxiety in our lives.
Before the dawning of the “Age of Rationality” (otherwise known as the “Age of Enlightenment”), our connection with the earth and it’s many life-giving elements were revered.
Water is the missing link between the physical, emotional and spiritual worlds. Water has the ability to give life, to transform energies and to bring death.
What is Water?
I know, it’s a funny question, but bear with me. Water is often thought of as the simply molecules H2O. But did you know that very little water is “true H2O”, and only distilled water is true H2O?
There are actually 36 different types of water, and then water also combines with many minerals – offering infinite variation.
Water is the universal solvent – it dissolves just about everything it meets. Water is in constant motion and transformation, creating the earth as we know it. Transporting nutrients to our cells and removing waste matter.

Masaru Emoto famously studied the consciousness of water in the early 2000s. He found that water could be programmed with words, like love or hate – producing different shaped ice crystals, depending on the emotive word written or spoken to it.
Water is a lot more complex and integral to life than simply referring to it as H2O.
The Importance of Water
If you’re in doubt as to the importance of water then take a look at the following statistics:
- 71% of the earth’s surface is water
- Your kidneys are 79% water
- Your lungs are 83% water
- The brain is 73% water
- Babies are created in 600-800ml of water in the amniotic sac
- You can survive just 3 days without water
Despite all of this, Westerners remain oblivious to the sheer importance of water, as the giver of life. Even countries like China historically described water as “primordial chaos”, “the totality of possibilities of what life could be.”
China also traditionally had a deep respect for the 5 elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth – yet is now consumed by the love of materialism and money, while ignoring the critical role that nature has to play.
Taking Water for Granted
Water is everywhere, so we tend to look elsewhere for the key to health.
Modern industrialised people are disconnected from nature. Many of us only think about water, and where it comes from, and nature’s effect, when floods block the road or a lack of water results in a hosepipe ban.
Water is taken for granted in the West, and as such, this ignorance is threatening life on this planet.
It’s all connected, the oceans are being filled with chemical, industrial, agricultural and residential waste (trash/rubbish), threatening the delicate balance of life on earth.
Our oceans are also becoming acidic due to the burning of fossil fuels. It’s said that if we keep on burning fossil fuels at the current rate, the surface waters of the oceans will be 150% more acidic by the end of this century.
To put it in perspective, seawater is life-giving as it is alkaline water, with an average pH of 8.2.
Water for Purification and Transformation
Those who live close to nature understand that water has a life of its own. Water has immense powers for both good and evil.
Water is used daily to have a shower or brush our teeth and spiritually speaking, water is said to cleanse our sins.

Baptism is a (spiritual water) ceremony with its roots in Egypt, Shintu, Confucian and Hindu customs. Jesus was said to accept his mission as the son of God on this earth by baptism by John.
In Baptism, the blessed water symbolises rebirth, belonging, mysteries and the promise of the afterlife.
There are many international sacred water sites that are still visited. For example, Lourdes in France is visited by 6 million pilgrims every year. Interestingly science and spirituality are now beginning to converge.
The waters of Lourdes have been tested energetically and found to be more healing than ordinary water. Zamzam Well in Mecca, Saudi Arabia is reportedly the holiest place in Islam.
Integrating All Levels
Water is connected. It flows through all levels of existence, from the heavenly skies to deep in the subterranean world, and back up again.
Reconnecting with water and it’s healing properties will take us closer to our true nature. Water should be cherished and treasured as the gift of life.
Taking time to connect with water by going to the ocean, a waterfall or taking a long bath with gratitude is a great first step. Bringing water into your office by way of a water feature or meditating next to water is also very healing.
We must also drink pure water, with the understanding that water is alive. Reconnecting with water means reconnecting with the forces of life.
